Oxford Renaissance Festival returns to Woodstock in June

Knights in battle armour will be jousting on horseback at the Oxford Renaissance Festival.
WOODSTOCK, Ont. --Feel the rush of live jousting. Experience live hand to hand combat. Watch as the legends of knights and maidens are brought to life through medieval comedy, fire-eating performances, magic shows, jousting on horseback, Celtic music and ale at the Oxford Renaissance Festival.

Oxford Renaissance Festival
June 13th-15th (Father’s Day Weekend)
Woodstock Fairgrounds (875 Nellis St., Woodstock, Ontario)
This 3-day festival kicks off Friday, June 13th with a night full of live Celtic style rock, folk music, and of course...bagpipes! Saturday and Sunday are packed full of family entertainment, live performances, musicians, artists, and delicious authentic renaissance food. Some performances you’ll definitely want to catch include:

·       Zoltan the Adequate – He’s just that...adequate! With his “geek-style” approach to magic, Zoltan brings flavour to his stage shows with effects such as nearly cutting off his own arm, fire-eating, or piercing his arm with a foot-long rod. He’ll do whatever it takes to “adequately” entertain his audience.

·       Knights of Valour – This full contact jousting troupe has not only been entertaining audiences across North America since 1997, but they appeared on The History Channel with a special called “Full Metal Jousting”. Knights of Valour are sure to put on an exciting show of horsemanship, bravery and chivalry.

·       Splatter Time Mud Show – Identical twin brothers – James & Lickity – work out their childhood issues in a public forum and let the people decide their fate! Oh yeah...and there’s mud. Lots of mud.

While the performances are a must-see at the Oxford Renaissance Festival, no renaissance festival would ever be complete without live musical talent. You’ll hear the sounds of beautiful classical instruments still being played today by talented musicians like Cu Dubh, Stone Clover and many more.

The Oxford Renaissance Festival brings excitement to both young and old at heart! It’s a weekend full of fun and entertainment like nothing else you’ve ever experienced.
